Whether drafting a simple will or tackling the complexities of estate and gift tax exposure and succession planning for high-net worth individuals or businesses, Sara seeks to be forward thinking, practical, and accessible while helping each client develop a plan that addresses the unique concerns and circumstances of that individual or business. |
Sara has been blessed with wonderful mentors during her law career. Her father, Marcus E. Martin, was her first teacher. He practiced law for 56 years and modeled a remarkable work ethic and enthusiasm for service to clients. Then, she was most fortunate to begin the practice of law as an associate with Dossett Goode Barnes and Broom, PA in Jackson, Mississippi. The excellent lawyers in that boutique tax law firm demonstrated superb technical skills and a willingness to go the extra mile for the individuals and businesses they represented.
As a native Mississippian, Sara has enjoyed several opportunities to give back to her state. Currently she serves as the Chairman of the Mississippi Board of Tax Appeals (BTA). Initially, she was appointed to a six-year term at the BTA by Governor Phil Bryant, and most recently she was reappointed by Governor Tate Reeves. Prior to this, she was appointed by Governor Kirk Fordice and confirmed by the Mississippi Senate to a six year term on the Mississippi State Board for Community and Junior Colleges.
When not practicing law, Sara loves to spend time with her family. She is an avid reader, enjoys Pilates, and finds great joy in travel. She and her husband, Grant, reside on a farm south of her hometown of Brandon, Mississippi. They have one delightful son who is a student at Mississippi State University. The family worships at Steen’s Creek Presbyterian Church.
